Oregon 04/2007 Ricky Day 4

More of the same, as we really begin to turn into slugs.

Checking out the flora.

Oregon has a lot of really neat bridges.

This is a one way road on the coast.

The Devil's Punch Bowl.

The coast is just amazing.

Oregon 04/2007 Ricky Day 3

We pretty much just hang around our place and do a little exploring in Depoe Bay.

Our views.

Depoe Bay has the world's smallest harbor.

Stuff really grows well in Oregon.

Oregon 04/2007 Ricky Day 2

We head toward the coast.

The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is a classic structure.

This is the lense.

One gets to the top using these stairs.

The rugged Oregon coast.

After a little touring, we search out a place to call home for a couple days.

We stop at Depoe Bay, home of Gracie's Sea Hag Restaurant and some really good Chowder.

We take a suite at the Inn at Arch Rock (the rock collapsed many years ago, but the area retained the name).

Our room is on the ground floor to the left.

We had a nice kitchen, dinning room, and living room.

Ricky is supposed to be reading (you remember that's what he is supposed to be doing), but it sure looks like he's either napping or catching up on ESPN.

Oregon 04/2007 Ricky Day 1

Spring Break finds Ricky and me heading to Oregon, him a break from Seminary, me for some R & R. The plan was to spend some time on the coast, but ..... We fly through Houston and have some time between flights to visit the President's Club, where we find George Foreman. Close your eyes Ricky, this is going to hurt.

George is a great sport and a Christian.

We make our way on to Portland late in the evening and couldn't resist putting ourselves in position to take the waters at Bagby Hot Springs.

It's a really neat hike up to the springs.

We make it to the springs.

This area has all of the private soaking rooms.

This is one of the private soaking tubs (logs).

This is a steamy shot of the main soaking area.

Doesn't it look inviting.

We finish our soak and head to the Coast.

California 04/2007 Jason Day 5

We continue exploring Death Valley jeep trails

and canyons.

Next stop was a tourist attraction, Scottty's Castle.

Hale and Jason checking out the Castle.

Next, we do some canyon driving and hiking.

Jason does a great job of driving for us.

Canyon jeeping.

At the end of the road, we hike up the canyon. There is a spring up the canyon, which results in all the greenery.

Jason does a great job of driving.

We head up the Lippencott Mine trail.

Hale is in the back seat, scared to death.

We make it up the scary Lippencott Mine trail and come to Tea Kettle Junction. Wonder how it got this name.

This is also the area where the moving rocks are. We also had a flat here.

Next stop was this volcanic crater.

Here are the guys at Badwater, the lowest spot in this part of the world. We are on the way back to the Las Vegas airport and home.
