Oregon 07/2007 - Dee Day 5

We leave Crater Lake and head north.

First stop was an interesting volcanic crater, called the Big Hole. There was a road, so we headed down.

Unfortunately, our sorry crossover vehicle was not up to the task, and we had to back out.

Our next stop was Fort Rock.

A stop at some Lave Tubes (Cave) was next on the agenda.

Who is this explorer?

Next stop was Paulina Lake.

Dee is in the water again.

Next stop was the Big Obsidian Flow.

Dee is smiling because we are getting close to cell coverage, so he can call Kim.

This is the big Obsidian Flow.

Next stop was Lava Butte, just south of Bend.

Here is a lava field and the Sisters again.

This is the top of the Lava Butte - basically a crater.

From the top of the Lava Butte, you can see miles and miles of lava fields.

Yep, this is all lava out there.

Next, we head over to Benham Falls.

On the way, we came across this eagles nest with some chicks waiting to be feed.
