We make it to Wilbur way after dark, and head down to the tubs to soak away the trail dust. Next morning, it's back to the waters we go.
Here is a wide shot of the warm soaking pool, sunning deck, and Hotel. The hot tub building is to the left, but is not shown here.
These are two of the three hot tubs, each at a different temperature.
This is the outdoor hot tub, and the scene of Dan's first dip.
The warm soaking pool
with the hotter soaking tubs under the roof in the background.
The water is green and is supposed to have a lot of minerals in it. It is the most silky water that I've ever enjoyed. Note: Make sure you bring your own drinking water, as the tap water here is not good.
The hot tub building..
Welcome! The Hotel.
This river runs along side of the soaking area.
Wilbur has quite a bit of land, so we took to the hills and did some trail blazing.
The area had evidence of old mining operations.
The hike took us through a valley/meadow, then up to the hills.
Ricky is caring the pack with all of our possibles.
We make it up to a ridge line, and Dan is taking in the surroundings.
I'm resting after a pretty steep climb up to the ridge line.
Even the young guys are taking a breather.
Ricky surveying his domain.
We just couldn't keep Dan out of the trees.
Such as they were anyway.
Sure was a beautiful day for a hike.
Buds on the mountain top.
The remains of an old smelter. Look closely, at the upper right of the smelter you can see a couple of deer.
Here is a ground level view.
An up close view.
And a really up close view.
Some old mining structures.
Nap time.
Dan, the Reform Man, returning to his roots.
One of Dan's bugs.
Ricky taking a shot at a couple of deer.
They were all pretty tame, so we don't think they were accustomed to people taking shots at them.
