California 04/2008 - Day 1

Upon heading out into LA traffic in the Hummer (everybody out of the way - I'm coming through), I headed for a soak, my nerves being shot. I dropped by the Beverly Hot Springs, which described the facility as a place where "balmy waters gush from a natural artesian well beneath the earth's surface. Originally discovered by an unknown oil wildcatter around the turn of the century and "rediscovered" in 1931, the well's contents sold for drinking water at 10 cents a gallon. Now, many years later, the area boasts a beautiful facility where the public can relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the only natural mineral thermal spa in Los Angeles. If you have never experienced the bubbling, invigorating waters from A NATURAL HOT MINERAL SPRING, now is the time to treat yourself to a visit to the beautifully appointed surroundings of BEVERLY HOT SPRINGS! It may well become a part of your personal fitness program--A wonderful, soothing way to relax tired and stressed muscles." Relaxed, Refreshed, and Renewed, I headed north and spent the night in Simi Valley.
