We head out of Eugene and up to the mountains to do some exploring.
This is Cougar Reservoir in rare form - full!
We checked out Cougar Hot Springs and did some climbing. The boys got stuck up here and had to be rescued.
The Cougar Lagoon and water fall.
Next stop was Hidden Lake, where all the guys took the plunge.
It is July, but this water used to be snow and ice, just a little while before this.
Found a great camp site and some wonderful burgers.
An old Ranger Cabin at Box Canyon.
Covered Bridge at Wesfir. As we make our way toward Crater Lake through the back country,
we come upon some snow - in July, and a snow ball fight broke out.
That's pretty good form Asa, but I hope you took Jordan out with that snowball.
Asa, I hope you have a plan B.
We arrive at Crater Lake National Park. We were fortunate, the North gate had just opened.
The guys first look at the lake.
Came across a lot more snow (The rim of Crater Lake is at about 7,000 feet)
Another snow ball fight breaks out,
And it looks like Asa is getting the worse of it.
Back to a few pixs of the lake, but with the sun not out, the photos are not up to par with some that I have taken.
Don't back up any guys.
Crater Lake Lodge
The guys on the South Rim.
Upon leaving Crater Lake, we try to make our way through some of the back country.
But snow stopped us at every bend.
We made camp along the bank of this creek.
It was a terrible experience as the mosquitoes ate us alive.
We make it back to Eugene, and the 2008 Olympic Trials are going full steam.
Here we are in downtown Tracktown USA
Us folk who did not have tickets to the track meet were able to watch from this area right next to the track at Hayward Field. Well, Ken and Jordan had to head back to Mississippi, so this part of the trip comes to a happy end.
