Oregon 10/2008 Ben - Day 3

We begin our day, following a great evening with the Parkers, with a stop by Burrito Boy.

Ben gets an obligatory tour of Eugene, which starts with Autzen Stadium,

Home of the Ducks.

This is the outdoor practice field.

This is the Indoor Practice Facility.

Next stop is the track facility at Hayward Field.

Bill Bowerman still watches over all that goes on here.

Not exactly sure what Kyle is doing, but Ben is staying out of the way. That's the Bowerman Building behind the boys.

The track at Hayward Field. One interesting thing is that the track is not reserved only for athletes, anyone can run on the track when there is not an official event going on.

The track and the far stands.

The track and the main stands at Hayward Field.

Next we drop by the Saturday Market to check out what's going on.

The drummers are adrum'n at the Free Speech Plaza, where there was also a protest or something similar going on. Have no idea what it was about.

A hot item for sale was this Sarah Palin alarm clock.

Did I mention we were at the Saturday Market?

All sorts of stuff is on sale:

Leaving the Market, we check out an interesting bumper sticker.

Next, it was on to Lunch at Papa's Soul Food Kitchen.

After some New Orleans food, we head over to check out the UofO campus.

And some more colors.

Our final stop is Pre's Rock.

There's always some interesting stuff left there.

Ben does the traditional thing of touching Pre's Rock.

Pre's Monument.

Poor Gretchen, she has been suffering with a house and back yard under construction for some time, but it's all finally coming to an end. Bless her heart.

Here's what the back yard looked like after all the old grass was dug up and the drain and sump pump was being installed. This is required by the City of Eugene in order that the rain that hits the roof of the new addition will not flow unto the street storm drains. Go figure that one out. If the new roof was not there, wouldn't the water hit the ground and then make its way to the street and the storm drains there. What a mess.

The plumbing is done, and the new sod is laid.

The sump pump is in the circle of paving stones.

Here's Ben and Kyle checking it all out.
