North Carolina - 10/2008 - Day 3

As we wrap up our Biltmore stay, it looks like I found some hot water. Too bad, it's fake and not even hot.

The main activity is a Carriage Ride.

It starts here at the barn.

We load up the wagon and prepare to head out. Action shots:

We get a great view of the big house.

Group shot.

Momma and the big house.

Our ponies.

We survive and make our way back to the Hotel for refreshments.

Then it is off to The Bistro for dinner.

Although the dishes reflect the flavors of the Blue Ridge Mountain retreat, you could be forgiven for thinking you've stepped into a café somewhere in Provence or Tuscany. The tables surround an open kitchen where today's harvest is sautéed and stirred, grilled and flavored with the themes of the region. They feature the bounties from their own fields, farms, and vineyards together with wood-fired pizzas and handmade pastas.

The guys are pretty tired after a long day on the trail.

Then it is so long to the Biltmore, as we begin our trek to the Highlands.
