Yesterday, we lost a friend and elder, John DeBruin. He is now free of earthly pains and with his Lord and Savior. I, and all the folks at Cascade Presbyterian Church in Eugene, will miss him and pray that the Lord will give Nadine peace.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Cascade Presbyterian Church in Eugene for John (Johannes) de Bruin of Eugene, who died Feb. 2 of bladder cancer. He was 78.
He was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Harlingen, Friesland, Netherlands, to Gooitzen and Baukje Wielinga de Bruin. He married Nadine World on June 8, 1999, in Eugene.
De Bruin attended Reseda High School and Masters College, both in California. He was a self-employed landscaper.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Shirley Mannion of Eugene, Yvonne Sherwood of Orem, Utah, and JoAnne Rehberger of Eugene; a stepson, John Verhoorn of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His first wife, Grace de Bruin-Jager, died previously.
Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
